About the Solas Centre
The charity was started in 1999 by a team of healthcare professionals in University Hospital Waterfordwho recognised the need for and benefits of non-medical supports for those affected by cancer. Theservices quickly outgrew its original rented facility.Following a massive community effort that startedin 2008 the necessary funds were raised and a newpurpose-built centre opened in 2011. Our MissionTo support people affected by cancer, theirfamilies, and carers in Waterford and the SouthEast. This year, Solas Cancer Support Centre hasseen a 35% increase in demand for services. Someof those services include complementary therapy,counselling, life coaching acupuncture, wellnessclass, support group and information sessions.
